ROLE : Creative Director, Logo Designer

This gelato company was just starting out and needed a full brand identity, including name and concept. They wanted to avoid the usual florals and decorative motifs of most gelato and ice cream brands for something with a sharper edge that would stand out in the ice cream aisle.
After researching Italian mythology, astrology, and folklore, I chose Biddrina, a man-eating snake of Sicilian legend. The grandmothers in the villages would warn the children, "Don't play near the well, the Biddrina will get you!"

Loosely inspired by 1960's rock posters, I designed the custom typeface and logo incorporating the snake.

The red, cream, and blue color palette is used for most cases, but alternates were created for the pint lids of different flavors of gelato, as well as merch like sweatshirts, stickers, and hats.

This custom gelato cart was hand-painted in Italy and is parked in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn in the summer.

Because many of their flavors change on a seasonal and even monthly basis, they opted for blank stickers so they could hand-write each pint label.

The merch included these tote bags, sweatshirts and tees, as well as aprons and hats for the gelato scoopers working the cart and their pop-up events.
